BIOGRAPHY
| Alla Belova is a Berlin-based fortepianist and pianist whose work brings historically informed performance into dialogue with contemporary artistic practice. She performs as a soloist and chamber musician on historical and modern keyboards, with a particular focus on fortepiano, chamber music and Lied. In 2026, Belova appeared as a fortepianist in the chamber concert series of musicAeterna together with violinist Olga Artyugina. She performs regularly on fortepiano across Europe while maintaining an active career on the modern piano. Her performances have taken her across Europe, North America and Asia to venues including Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin (LINK), KKL Luzern, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Saint Petersburg Philharmonia and Auditorium Pedrotti in Pesaro, and to festivals including Lucerne Festival, Heidelberger Frühling and Schubert-Woche Berlin. As a pianist, Belova has appeared with the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester and Junge Philharmonie Zentralschweiz and has worked with conductors including Michael Sanderling and Lionel Bringuier. |
| Her chamber and Lied collaborations include Yulia Muzychenko, Mira Alkhovik (LINK) and Björn Nyman, and she was a pianist of the Thomas Hampson Lied Academy (LINK). A laureate of international solo, chamber music and Lied competitions, her distinctions include First Prize at the Hella Siegrist Piano Competition and Second Prize at the International LiedDuo Competition Groningen. She has also recorded for the Swiss label Claves Records (LINK). Beyond the traditional concert format, Belova works with contemporary music, improvisation, theatre and music for film (LINK), exploring how historically informed performance can speak to the artistic forms and audiences of today. This approach is central to Ars Temporis (LINK), her interdisciplinary concert project combining live performance with participatory workshops and audience dialogue and creating new ways to encounter classical music. Born in Saint Petersburg, Belova graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory, Hochschule Luzern and Berlin University of the Arts, where she specialised in fortepiano with Avinoam Shalev and Lucas Blondeel. Further artistic influences include Jacques Rouvier, Malcolm Martineau and Hartmut Höll. |
